Greetings from Hawaii

This isn't the photo I planned to put on the blog- phone doesn't want to let me choose .
I have a great photo of Michelle I will Facebook next .
Where do I start ....
Beautiful beaches , beautiful waves , beautiful food, beautiful sunsets..
Forgot to mention beautiful piña coladas ... Mmmmmmmmm
We have surfed waikiki every morning before the crowds arrive - met some very friendly locals happy to give us tips .
Today was a highlight !!
Michele was heard to say " this is the Beeeest daaaaaay everrrrrrrrr!"
Tommy from moko surf company took the 3 of us on a day trip to the north shore.
We stopped for a look at Haleiwa- too big for the likes of us chickens... Carla and Bernie - u would have loved it !
Next stop a 2 hour surf at ( pointapoint) complete with go pro footage . We had a great surf surrounded by monster turtles . Two large whales showed up as we were leaving right behind the first break.  As we headed to the car , 2 girls we surfed with hold us they hopped out because their friend spotted a shark swimming with us as well.
THAT was when Tommy informs us there are HEAPS of sharks in that spot .
I spent the night before dreaming about saving Michele from being attacked by swimming over a planting my fist into the sharks eyes.... Glad I didn't have to do that.....
Next stop was pipeline and sunset , unfortunately not huge surf but still barrels breaking on the shoreline with a few kamikaze surfers.
To finish off the day we stopped at a roadside van for famous garlic shrimp ... Yummmmm
Jealous????
I wish u were all here !
Maybe next year?

Sea turtles and stuff

Finally had a surf with Champagnekate this morning. She showed me up and got 'Wave of the day' of course! The water is still a little tea coloured but the temperature is divine. We made a friend while we were out there. A little round turtle's head kept bobbing up and checking us out. So I think this is what he looks like:

Now, this turtle is also relevant because it's an Hawaiian Sea Turtle... and we all know who is winging her way across the Pacific (as we speak!) to maybe view some Hawaiian sea turtles of her own, don't we? Yes, Acturv - we are all jealous that you are going to such a beautiful place to go surfing. But we are mostly jealous that you have 2 weeks kid free!! Woohoo! Live it up girl!

The slow drumroll has begun...We await your first Surfermum blog post from Hawaii with bated breath...

Fab February

Hi Surfermums,
This week we had to catch up on a few birthdays, so 6 of us met down the beach for a coffee and cake after we all did our things, some swam, surfed, rode MTB's (no snakes Jules),  and remembered those who couldn't join us as they are off earning the hard stuff...... and then celebrated.... with mud cake, cream and blueberries.....that was Monday.....

Today I finally caught up with Surfermum, the surf wasn't promising, but we got out anyway..... Junior was to remark that "surfing whilst it's raining is the best, no wind or sun, the water warm and waves are smooth"...... yes..... yes.... we Surfermums knew that all along..... another remark that made me laugh was "is this what you did while we were at school"  LOL...... ssshhhh.... don't tell...... anyone.....  particularly about our surf breaks.... we are so lucky.....

I also had a giggle, when Junior was telling me how to catch a wave, and remarking 'what are you doing sitting over there, paddle hard, go left... etc etc....... all the while he was catching waves, and performing back flips off the back of the wave he just caught...... just to think..... a few years ago it was the other way around...... my baby has grown up.....
Till next time we all catch up.... early May I hope..... for that girls weekend.....
Cheers
Annie

Tales of a tall city

Anywhere you go in Sydney, women are lining up to go to the toilets. The Opera House on a weekday in January? - queues; Circular Quay? - queues; Coogee Beach? - queues; The State Theatre? - queues.

You know the only satisfactory place for a gal to wee in Sydney? The SCG! The place is chocka block full of guys! The ladies loos are divine! I sauntered in...did a few twirls with my handbag outstretched, weaved the grapevine up and down in front of the full length mirror, belted out a few bars of Advance Australia Fair (just to be patriotic - I was at the cricket!), did my business and left. Ahh freedom!

While we are on the subject, the smell of toilets is not usually a topic to discuss, but just in case you are interested: the loos at the State Theatre? - lemonade; the Amora Hotel in the City? - maple roasted hazelnuts; the SCG? Just the clear sweet smell of space and luxury. Divine!

Husband and I dined out at a fancy smancy restaurant while in the big smoke the other night and these two frisky baguettes where assigned to our table:

I only turned away for a moment to gawk at my neighbours posh nosh and when I returned my gaze these two were at it like buns in an oven:

You may have guessed that I am easily amused.

Anyway, had a too-quick surf with Champagnekate yesterday morning. If only my kids hadn't got in the way...I would've stayed longer - crystal water and warm as a tropical island. It's good when you get it.

Happy Australia Day!

Hee hee hee

Came across this cartoon in one of Surferboy's Tracks magazines recently and thought I'd have a play with it... :)
Hope it makes you smile.

I like to think we will be still around in 30 years time even if we scare off the young folk with our saggy bits, walking/surfing frames, and wayward ways. I'm sure Grommie will shred Chopes by then...

(nb: Chopes refers to Teahupoo... Chowpoo? Tahiti? With me?)

This is the view from the shoulder as Grom gets on with it at Chopes...
Feel the suck?

We are off to the 2nd day of the cricket test against Sri Lanka tomorrow - no sitting in the hot sun for us, we will be sipping cool ones up in the corporate box... ;)
